The motorcycle Carlile used was a crash damaged, road-legal Yamaha YZF-R1 that he bought in 2007 for just £4,000.
Weight was lost on the chassis and he spent weeks shaving off every piece of non-essential equipment to ensure his ride was in the perfect condition for trying to break the record.
In some instances it was a case of shedding mere grams, but it added up to around 11kgs of weight that was stripped from the vehicle.
However, nothing has been excessively modified, the engine remains the same and his success relied mainly on knowing the track to an insanely high standard - as well of being unafraid to speed around it at full tilt.
In an interview with bridgetogantry.com Carlile discussed the importance of the Dunlop road-legal trackday tyres he used.
He talked about the positive impact his new wheels had; how they reduced the weight while improving acceleration, stopping and cornering.
With Dunlop looking to provide the tyres for his next run, it could be a fast one - hopefully under the seven minute mark.
Amazingly he did the record lap in May when the track was open to the public and passed both cars and bikes as he completed his lap.
These inevitably slowed him down, raising the big question - how fast could he go on a private lap?
