Dear Mr. Fontana,
thank you for your e-mail. We are truly sorry, that you had such a trouble during your motorbike tour. Regarding the motorcycle grip: LPKF is not the manufacturer of the components. Our customer Kromberg & Schubert is manufacturing the grip for BMW.
The LDS technology has passed tough tests and qualifications of the automotive and medical industry many times and design rules are available at any time.
However as with every new technology there is a learning curve. But I can assure you that the quality issue is already solved and another step towards more efficient and compact design of electronic components has been taken!
As we see from your nice pictures you are visiting trade fairs of the electronic industry. We would be happy to meet you at one of the next occasions. For example LPKF will take part at the big electronica show in Munich - not too far away from Italy. There we could talk about the LDS technology and other LPKF business fields.
You are heartily invited.
Best regards,
Nils Heininger
Alla quale io ho replicato nel mio maccheronico inglese:
Thank you for your reply. I'm very glad that someone replies to such non-standard complains. Mine was just an email to let you think about the fact that, many times, beyond business plans and time schedules, there are persons.
I really don't know what happened to this product during its life (and I'm very curious), but, the learning curve, should be kept inside the factory (BMW, Kromberg & Schubert or LPKF).
BMW should have changed all the grips on the sold motorcycles, using a recall campaign, instead, they are waiting for them to broke.
By the way, I wrote to you since in November, during Productronica, I already know the story of the defective grips and I found really curious that someone was using them to advertise their technology.
